The Response chair was created by myself and fellow designer, Jason May, to meet the needs of Disney Research's haptic feedback project. Bent plywood provides a flexible and form fitting design that is essential for displaying the research team's findings. The chair houses a pad which contains multiple speakers that pulse according to on-screen action. These sensations allow users to feel programmed sensations while watching movies or video games, such as the vibration of a race car driving by. The three-piece design allows the chair to conform to a person's back and sides as maximum surface contact with these speakers is necessary to feel the effect.
